Capturing Stories

When I started The Women Creative, my idea was to do it all on my own. Interview, take pictures, film etc.. But soon I realized that there's nothing wrong with asking for help, especially when you have amazing talented friends around you – so I did! Meet the crew that makes it happen, I'm so thankful you wanted to join my team.

ANNIE HANSSON

Photographer at The Women Creative

In what way are you creative? – I think my creativity shows in most of the things that I do. In everything from problem solving to planning a party. My passion lies in trying to tell a story by capturing things on camera.

What makes you happy?

– Anything from going to concerts, dancing like a maniac or singing my heart out to cuddle up in the sofa with a loved one. And of course spending time with friends and family.

What makes you mad? – When people don't respect each other's differences and judge the book by its cover.

What does feminism mean to you?

– For me it means to have freedom to do anything you want without getting judged, no matter the gender.

The best thing about The Women Creative?

– To meet and get inspired by other strong and creative wome

CHRISTOFFER HOLMKVIST

Copy Editor at The Women Creative

In what way are you creative? – I mostly do photography. My latest attempt is making a portrait album but the going is slow because I insist on doing it analog. I guess I’m creatively organized?

What makes you happy?

– Finding a really good book. Yawning kittens. A nice cup of coffee in the autumn, you know when the vapour rises like smoke.

What makes you mad? – Injustice, especially the kind I can’t do anything about. Also cars that run red lights. People need to learn manners.

What does feminism mean to you?

– Equality, obviously, continuing the work that was started in the mid-1800s and eventually, finally changing the world. It means not having to worry over women walking alone, and for myself, attempting to settle the inherent conflict in that feeling versus the fact that women can take care of themselves well enough without some guy wanting to protect them. We all live in our stereotypes and hopefully one day they’ll be the subject of history books rather than fact.

The best thing about The Women Creative?

– Finding new and interesting people with unusual or simply fascinating hobbies and jobs. I probably wouldn’t have learned about any of these women without it. It’s great.

JENNIFER BORGE

Founder and Editor at The Women Creative

In what way are you creative? – In whichever way I can - writing, designing, taking pictures, styling, painting or fixing some old furniture. To be creative is a need I have to nourish, everyday.

What makes you happy?

– My dog, friends, family, my home and when things are going well for the people I love.

What makes you mad? – Unfortunately, too many things. But I can't ignore injustice towards other people, children or animals. Then I react instinctively.

What does feminism mean to you?

– It means sisterhood, knowledge and a sense of justice on a personal level. In the bigger picture it means change and equality -for everyone.

The best thing about The Women Creative?

– That an idea I had last summer can inspire others. All the interviews I’ve had that have made me humble, inspired and proud to be a woman. And to work with friends!
